Pifîj-si Bî

Pifîj-si Bî (/ˈëze/ /si/ [dumb (speechless)] [state (condition); condition (state)]) is a temperate Town located in the Ineg̈èsho Zone of the Union of Engineers.

The name Pifîj-si Bî is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as Pifîj-si Bî was founded by Kebbirc Bresesëm, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Climate

Pifîj-si Bî has a yearly average temperature of 20°C (68°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 12°C (53°F). Pifîj-si Bî receives an average of 282 cm/y (111 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Pifîj-si Bî covers an area of nearly 5 km² (2 mi²), and an average elevation of 1214 m (3982 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Pifîj-si Bî was founded durring the late 11th century, by Kebbirc Bresesëm. The establishment of Pifîj-si Bî suffered from many setbacks, delays, and obsticles, most notably a group of Pifîj-si Bî which required millitary assistance exterminate before the community could finish being built.

Pifîj-si Bî was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the late 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Pifîj-si Bî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Pifîj-si Bî is is constructed arround a series of premissive packed earth mainstreets which form concentric circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to each other at varrious points. The town sits behind an impressive looking clay brick wall. The wall is notable for querried stone blocks being used to renforce the clay bricks in the expected manner and locations. While the wall was built to the exact specifications of modern fortifications, one has to wonder why the money invested into creating such a well fortified wall wasnt spent on a less impressive looking wall crated from sturdier materials. Pifîj-si Bî's walls would endure a brief bombardment, but only from light siege weapons. It seems more likly the town's walls were not designed with defence in mind but rather lending the town a certain air with visitors. The town's boondoggle-of-a-fortified wall have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

A look around Pifîj-si Bî has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scutteling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s all of those things together, or perhaps it's the way these elements combine with the abundance of schools, libraries, and other academic structures. Locals can be overheard having academic discussions, as well as talking about scholarly subjects in general. It’s quite clear the town places a lot of value on education and being a learned individual. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Pifîj-si Bî long.

Civic Infrastructure

Pifîj-si Bî has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Pifîj-si Bî. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Pifîj-si Bî's parks.

Pifîj-si Bî has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Pifîj-si Bî.

Pifîj-si Bî has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Pifîj-si Bî has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Pifîj-si Bî has a Hall of Slayers, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Pifîj-si Bî has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Pifîj-si Bî's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Pifîj-si Bî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Pifîj-si Bî's natural decorations nor waterways.

Pifîj-si Bî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Pifîj-si Bî has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Pifîj-si Bî's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used embraces individualism and experimentation. It emerged as a movement against traditional, classical styles and sought to make buildings dynamic and fun while breaking the rules. The style incorporated elements of previous architectural styles in exaggerated and whimsical ways. Traditional, conservative leanings were void in this era, with most scholars of architecture agreeing it was a time of “anything goes.”.

In Pifîj-si Bî most nights are accompanied by colorful ribbons of light in the sky.

The Bat Swarm, Underworld near Pifîj-si Bî are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Pifîj-si Bî's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves gestures to channel Enchantment energies of tier 3 via divine sermons.

Economy

The following information was obtained via the Imperial Census Bureau as part of the Eyom Economic Outreach Program. It differs from Standard Imperial censuses in that many of Tom's citizens, regardless of culture, work in more than one occupation or hold more than a single job. The Imperial Census Bureau has ruled that a job is a job, hence, the intigers within the data presented here can count an individual more than once.

Pifîj-si Bî produces some wonderful cultural artifact or trains famous artists. The product might be some exceptional cloth, or artistic luxury good, or the scholarly fruits of a famous academy. Trained artists might be students of a particular school, or the apprentices of the current masters of a long artistic tradition who dwell here.

Pifîj-si Bî makes use of canals for some of its streets. Locals often fish in the canals.

POI

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Pifîj-si Bî was attacked by savage cyclopss living nearby. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Pifîj-si Bî lost 140 people, 166 livestock, and 26 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 189, when members of Pifîj-si Bî's militia enacted an operation to recruit a specific faction leader. The operation was complicated by the officers in charge fight among themselves, weakening the army as a whole. The conflict ended with a last stand against the enemy until a particular event occurred, which ended in defeat for Pifîj-si Bî's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Pifîj-si Bî's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
